The project starts at Wulipu, Qinzhou District, Tianshui City in the west, and ends at Tianshui Railway Station in Maiji District in the east, with a total of 12 stations.

On May 1, China Railway Construction (601186) participated in the investment, design, construction and operation of the Tianshui City Tram Demonstration Line Project (Phase I) in Gansu Province, which was officially opened to traffic. As the first tram line in Northwest my country, this project has a speed of 25.02 kilometers per hour, which is at the leading domestic level.

The project starts from Wulipu, Qinzhou District, Tianshui City in the west and ends at Tianshui Railway Station in Maiji District in the east. There are 12 stations in total. The main line is 12.928 kilometers long. The project adopts the PPP model. The total investment of the project is 2.446.4 billion yuan. The Fifth Institute of China Railway Construction is responsible for the overall design, and the China Railway 11th Bureau of China Railway Construction is involved in investment, construction, and operation.

The project is located in an area of high seismic intensity, and at the same time it needs to adopt a large-span, long continuous beam structure, and seismic design has become a top priority. The design team of the Fifth Railway Institute used friction pendulum damping and isolation bearings for seismic design, and innovatively designed "upright" and "U-shaped" retaining wall structures when passing through the river, which enhanced the seismic resistance, flood resistance and erosion resistance.

China Railway 11th Bureau undertook multiple construction tasks such as civil engineering, depot, parking lot, station and track laying. Since the start of construction in January 2018, the builders have insisted on “starting with high standards, promoting high efficiency, and achieving high quality standards”, dynamically optimized and adjusted the construction plan, overcome a number of construction problems, and ensured that the tram line was opened and operated on schedule.

In order to meet the operational requirements, China Railway Construction established an operation management team and issued 99 supporting systems covering 7 categories, including tram safety, traffic management, and passenger transport services, and achieved effective operation.
